Gabrielle Blair, Design Mom

Meet Gabrielle Blair, mother extraordinaire of six children and the woman behind the wildly popular blog, Design Mom, as well as Kirtsy. We are just crazy about her back to school traditions and shopping tips. Gabrielle absolutely gets her kids “something shiny and new to wear on the first day of school.” If the kids look cute, "their teachers can't help but adore them." Her girls are into “sequins and florescent colors (80’s all over)” and her son likes “classic white sneakers.” For school supplies, she takes a shopping trip with each of the kids and “they choose exactly what they want – color of scissors, pattern of composition books.” After shopping, the kids “put together outfits and model them while I snap away with the camera." She then takes more photos, of course, before they head out to school on the first day. Extra fun, her old neighborhood celebrates the first day with donuts, juice and pictures at the bus stop. The first day ends gathered around the kitchen table, with a big after-school snack where everyone reports on their day. For Gabrielle, “back to school is such a fresh start. We discuss hopes and fears for school.” SHOP GABRIELLE'S PICKS >
