Whole Living blogger and Green-Living Consultant Francesca Olivieri gives her top 5 ways to be better to Mama Earth:
Avoid Plastic: After learning about the Great Plastic Trash Island and that BPA is linked to higher incidences of heart disease, diabetes and cancers, I avoid plastic whenever I can. Convert to stainless steel water bottles and containers and try the reusable sandwich bags.
Save Trees: I gave up on using paper towels many years ago. Just try it. You won’t look back. Old rags work fine for spills, or this Skoy Eco-Friendly Cleaning Cloth is great too.
Avoid Pesticides: Conventionally grown cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the world. These chemicals wreak havoc on our soil, water and air. To avoid the chemicals, I buy organic clothing when possible.
Say No to Chemicals: The EPA states that pollution inside is two to five times worse than the air outdoors. Look for products that are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. I love Seventh Generation and Earth Friendly cleaning products.
Eat Local + Organic: I love going to the Farmer's Market with my
kids. I have each pick out something for dinner. The Family Dinner is a great cookbook on enjoying real food and not rushing meals.
