Japan has been on my bucket list for years. While I wait to visit the serene countryside, majestic mountains, and unique city of Tokyo, I’m living vicariously through their locally accessible arts, fashion, and food (my son cannot live without ramen). Enter Tea Collection and their most recent adventure in Japan. Their visual and tactile experience was beautifully translated into a playful collection of floral and folk-tale designs for children.
One of my favorite Japanese style trends from the collection is the gold leaf-inspired details, as seen in this wrap dress. Although there are various stories as to where gold leaf originated, it’s certainly popular in Japan. The city of Kanazawa produces about 99% of Japan‘s gold leaves. From chocolate bars and ice cream to crafts and home decor, the Japanese certainly have a thing for gold leaf. And what a fun project this would be for kids! Simple everyday items take on a whole new look with just a bit of gold leaf. You and your child can add a little sparkle to your day with one of these gold leaf DIY projects and shortcuts. Go for gold!
